Langcliffe fields
Stone walls and ancient fields off Pike Lane, Langcliffe

Before the turnpike road (now the B6479) was built along the valley from Settle to Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Pike Lane was part of the ancient route over the hills connecting Settle, Langcliffe, Winskill, and Stainforth. The stone walls probably date from the 18th-century enclosures, but the track will predate the walls and the marks of much earlier divisions can still be seen in the fields.
