Washburndale
Gorse in Washburndale, with Swinsty Reservoir, from Norwood

This is the view from the B6451 by the junction with Brat Lane, Norwood. The gorse in the foreground indicates that this area used to be moorland and is still quite poor soil. In the middle distance are Swinsty and Fewston Reservoirs which in the 20th century dealt the final blow to a once-thriving rural farming community. On the horizon is Barden Fell.
