Surprise View
Surprise View, Otley Chevin, in the snow

Otley Chevin (the name probably comes from an old word meaning ridge) is a long ridge which runs east to west south of the town of Otley in Wharfedale. Surprise View is so called because from the south the slope is very gradual, and then the ground drops away precipitously, suddenly revealing the view overlooking Otley with Upper Wharfedale and Nidderdale in the distance.
