Clapper bridge, Capple Bank, Wensleydale
This clapper bridge lies on the old high-level route from Middleham to West Witton, made redundant when the turnpike roads were built in the 18th century. Here the track crosses a marshy patch on Capple Bank, where the traveller would have been thankful to find this stone bridge across the worst of the wet ground.
